You're probably running into a bug that Ford won't admit to.  I found that after sync'ing my contact list I had to turn off auto download otherwise the phonebook in the car would get screwed up.  Ford's online help people claim its a bug with the phone (the fact that it happens with multiple brands and models doesn't matter) and how it "buffers the bluetooth contacts"FORD GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER acknowledge the problems and provide a real fix instead of blaming everybody else for your mistakes.

I found the same problem with my Android phone, I turn off auto download of the phonebook after the initial phonebook sync and everything works fine.I questioned the online support rep on this system and they said that they were aware of the problem and its a problem only with some phones.yeah like the phone/sync volume problem is only with "some phones"Come on Ford, stop pushing your mistakes onto somebody else.  I have a phone that YOU LIST as compatible, I believe it was (or still is) listed as Silver level compatibility meaning YOU tested it.  Obviously not.

maybe if people start filing a complaints with the NTSB for an unsafe condition due to the Sync system  in the car startling drivers might get Ford to pony up to the problem.

Three model years, 2008, 2009, and 2010 you'd think Ford would fix it.I don't think Ford is capable of fixing the product.

Sad part is Ford learned about the problem as far back as the 2008 model year as can been seen by the posts on this forum,  Ford decided to ignore the problem until the 2011 model year.In other words Ford knowingly continued to sell a defective product.

On the Android phones go to bluetooth settings, press the "Sync" device until a menu pops up, choose "Options" and then deselect "Media".  That will prevent the car from accessing bluetooth media on the phone but will allow bluetooth phone calls.

Kind of sucks that I can't have Sync update its internal phonebook whenever I make changes on the phone.  At least its a possible work around while we patiently hope Ford will fix the system....  Of course we were led astray with the volume problem.

See if you can disable on your phone the Bluetooth profile A2DP.  The Sync system will always use that profile when its available in addition to the handsfree profile for phone communications.  I don't think you can tell Sync not to use A2DP but many phones have the ability to limit which profiles are available when connecting.

I confirmed this morning that the entries I am trying to voice dial DO EXIST in the radio's copy of the phonebook as they are viewable when manually browsing the phonebook.

Using an HTC CDMA Hero (Android) the problem shows up with the released 2.1 (Eclair) and not official 2.2 (Froyo) software, not sure if its a phone issue or a sync issue.Pair the phone to the car after the pairing is complete I tell sync to download the phone book at which point I get a notification on the phone prompting me to allow access to the phone's phone book along with a check box to "always grant access."  I select the always grant access and approve the phonebook access.  At this point the phone book appears to download properly and I can dial by name anybody in the phonebook (or at least everybody that I have tried)  After about a week the system stops recognizing the names in the phonebook and starts providing me with what the system thinks I asked for by saying "say #1 for ..."Now when the above is happening I say dial  and then provide a number for one of the names the system couldn't recognize the system will properly recognize the numbers given to it and then when calling out the display will show the name stored in the phone book.So my question is does the sync system pull the name when dialing by number from its internal phone database or is that transferred from the phone when I attempt to dial?Either way why is this happening?  I can always restore the phonebook by deleting the phone from sync and then re-adding the phone.suggestions?NJ-MKZ

I could care less about choosing which voice blasts me out of the car.  What I would like to see if Ford fix the volume control, or at least get the Bluetooth volume close to the sync voice volume.
