Don't see the issue with my Env Touch and my 08 Focus with Sync v2.1 either. I'll agree with you though Ford does not like to admit to defects unless they absolutely have to. Just like Microsoft... it's not a bug, its a feature. ;-)

Sync also has a shuffle function.  Make sure it is not enabled (set to OFF). What version of Sync are you running?  I remember when I first got my Sync in May of 2008, I had to pronounce the album name like you.  But after one of my updates, Sync began recognizing numbers.  So I could then call up 2112 by saying "twenty one twelve" or Van't Halen's 1984 by saying "Nineteen Eighty Four".  I've even found that I can call up Led Zeppling IV by saying "Led Zepplin Four", even though my MP3 tag has the roman nuimberals. The only song I've found that still has a problem is Tommy TuTones' "867-5309 Jenny"  When I ask Sync "what's playing" she says "Five Thousand three hundred and nine Jenny". :-)

What type of device are you using?  I use a USB flash drive, and if I get out of the car and USB was selected, it is still selected when I get back into the vehicle.  I don't have to say USB (I have never used the command User Device).  Of course, if I was on FM radio, then I'd have to say USB and then my command to play music.

This symptom can typically be fixed by simply pulling the Sync fuse for 30 seconds and replacing it.

Rush 2112 may give you issues because Track#1 is actually 7 parts (Overature, Temples of Syrinx, Departure, etc..).  Depends on how the CD ripping software treated those seven parts. I also always use 2 digit track numbers, meaning always include a leading zero.  01, 02, 03, etc... Make sure your ID3 tags are version 2.3 or 2.4 as Sync doesn't seem to always like version 1.3 Of course, I always name my tracks <Artist> - <Album> - <Track#> - <Song Title> so they are always in track order.  There are many programs available that can batch rename your collection to this format.  Or any format you choose.

And make sure the ID3 tag version is not 1.3 as it needs to be 2.3 or 2.4 I've also found it is best to make sure Artst and Album Artist tags are identical.

How much simpler can it get than telling Sync exactly what song, artist or album to play?  You can use the Search function of Sync as well.  Certainly a lot easier than having to press buttons and navigate through the menus of Sync or the iPod.

The way I do it on my 2008 Focus, non Nav, is I say "Search Artist <artist>" and then I get a prompt on my display that says "ALL ALBUMS".  I then use the Arrow keys (prev/next) to scroll through the list of albums.  When I find the album I want I then press OK to view the tracks on that album.  I've never quite figured out the Refine command.

No, but pressing OK during USB playback will pause the unit.  Otherwise you just have to lean on the vol down key to get a lower volume.  I believe Mute has been requested several times.

You can't do what you are requesting, but I believe you can use the Refine Album command to then see a list of the albums.  Amanda won't read them to you though.
