On my system, it is when I go from USB to FM Radio that I have to scroll through Sat 1, 2, 3 (if I use the steering wheel button).

The radio is smart enough to exclude "CD" if there are no discs.  Why do I have to listen to Sirius ads forever?

When I had the free 6 months, I thought that I saw a way to program-out satellite in the menu.  Now the menu is locked out when I am in Sat 1, 2, or 3.  Can someone confirm this?  Does the menu have an option to skip satellite?  I cannot even access the radio ID.

It's due to the fact that your sat module is now "unauthorized". The Sirius software basically locks out every feature of the module if you are not a current subscriber. All your radio knows is that a sat module exists and it's working. The radio has no control of the sat functions, it just relays what buttons you push to it. If you unplug it your radio can no longer communicate with it so no more ads.

I am not sure where it is in the Mustang but you can always get the shop manual for the exact procedure. Visit www.motorcraftservice.com. You can purchase a subscription to the vehicle specific manuals for $20 for a month or a year at $110. This is how your local dealership gets their manuals. You can use your existing Syncmyride.com or FLM Owner log in on the Motorcraft website.

DLabun,

I appreciate the information, but I have a question for Ford.

Why should I pay (at all) to stop an annoying, repeating, 'marketing' announcement on a $48k truck?

If I decide I don't want to pay $130/year for a service that I don't use, then Ford #or Sirius# shouldn't harp at me or make it more difficult to use my Sync system.

That would the same as buying a TV with a trial HD subscription; not renewing the HD subscription; and every time you turn on the TV you have to push a button #or two# on the TV.

My free trial will expire in December.  I like TravelLink, but have no use for Sirius radio, so I sent an e-mail to Sirius asking about my 'renewal' options.  I have no idea what these packages are or what they include, but I thought I'd share the information.

Below is their reply:

"The SIRIUS packages and subscription available on your receiver are:

SIRIUS Everything package
1 Year - $129.50
2 Years - $259.00
3 Years 3 Years - $388.50
4 Years - $518.00
Lifetime - $399.99

Family Friendly package:
1 Year - $119.50
2 Years - $239.00
3 Years - $358.50
4 Years - $478.00
Lifetime - $449.99

Travel Link Complete:
1 Year - $71.88
2 Years - $125.79
3 Years - $185.69
4 Years - $251.58"

My understanding is that you cannot get the Travel Link package without getting the Sirius package.  I've been contemplating the renewal myself but have a hard time justifying 200 bucks a year for radio. My daily commute just isn't this long but it does come in useful on longer trips and I really do like Travel Link.

That's completely correct...You must have a Sirius audio package in order to get Travel Link service. I guess you could always get one of the multi-year packages so it's less expensive than monthly.

There should really be an option on the radio to disable or lockout Sirius if you don't want it. Sirius is completely independent of Sync so this is an issue across all FLM and Volvo vehicles. Odds of that happening are slim since that would require a software up to the radio. So for now, just unplug the module.

You can't.  If you don't want to pay for Sirius, it is simply non-functioning after your freebie period.
