I've found that a good workaround is to use playall. Playlist may work as well. Asking for a specific track will diffently result in skip of tracks. As for want a sync app that's terriable if sync needs it to be running to work with sync sync will break on the next call or prevent you from using a nav app. A sync app to deliver or even better give health report right on the phone would be neat though. Now if we could only get the txt message center to work and maybe transfer ringtones. I just really want tXt delivery.

Ever since I updated my iPhone 3G OS to the latest 3.1 version I've been having a problem with the iPhone automatically starting to play music when I start my Escape. I have NEVER attempted to listen to music via Bluetooth in my Escape, but the iPhone starts playing music no matter what the Escape's stereo is set to. It says the output is being sent to SYNC, even though the stereo is set on something else. It can be on CD, Sirius, etc, and the iPhone starts right up with the music. I've tried removing the iPhone from SYNC and doing the pairing again, I've gone into SYNC settings and turned off autoplay, I've stopped playback on the iPhone and changed the output back to iPhone rather than SYNC while the Esacpe is running...and nothing seems to make this behavior stop. Sometimes the music will stop when I turn off the Escape, and sometimes it keeps playing after I turn off the Escape. There's GOT to be a way of stopping this from happening, and I would love to know how to do it! This does nothing but waste battery on my iPhone...especially when I don't think to check it and make sure the music isn't playing. This may have been happening before I updated the iPhone to 3.1, but if it was I never noticed it before.

I also have an IPhone. The music skips in Blue tooth audio mode. So I plugged into USB and it worked great UNTIL I downloaded latest firmware for the phone now NOTHING!!!! The USB won't read my phone. Anyone else experience this?

It's most likely trying to play over bluetooth.  If you go into the ipod app on your iphone and look at the very bottom, it will say Sync.   Click that and then select dock connector and it'll play through the usb cable.  I have to do this every time I plug in my phone with the usb cable.

Well, I finally have my iPhone with OS 3.1 working again. I just did a drive from WA to CA and had the phone plugged in for no reason other than keeping it charged. I was surprised that after a bit over 22 hours, Sync reported that indexing was complete! This is for 2,137 songs. It seems to be working now, but I dread adding anything additional and finding out it does a complete re-index. Jon

In the settings for the iPhone, the iPod has a Shake to Shuffle that seems to be set ON for the OS 3.1. If you turn that to off, does the skipping go away?
