I just wanted to post an update since it's been about a week since I downgraded my phone.

All of my problems listed in the previous post have been "fixed".  I haven't had one instance where my phone didn't want to wake from sleep.  I haven't had any problems getting or receiving calls or texts.  And all the problems with Sync have been corrected.

I will say that the bluetooth problem is still around, this did not fix that.  When I start the car and the bluetooth connects, the phone will start playing, even if I left it on Sirius and it starts up on Sirius.  This is annoying but not nearly as annoying as never getting to use my phone due to it constantly indexing.  Unfortunately, I don't think you will be able to correct this problem without rolling back to the 2.x iphone firmware, and I'm not sure if that's possible/advisable.

It is nice to see that the powers at be acknowledge the issue exists, and I understand not being able to update us, but it would be good to know something, a legit work around, a future update that will fix it, something.

Thanks for all of your hard work, the system is great (when it's working) and the only reason I purchased the vehicle I did.

Thanks.  Since a 3.1 issue has been established, have you reported this to Apple?

Believe me, Apple knows about the 3.1 issues, just check out their support forums for 144 page threads on the subject.

But since this forum is more for Sync, I wanted to let the users here know that rolling back (which isn't supported, or condoned by apple) is a temporary fix for Sync and other iPhone issues.  Hopefully once they release 3.1.1 (or whatever the next update is) soon and it will fix all of these problems.  If not, then I hope the Sync team is able to find a workaround or fix on their own for at least the Sync issues.

2010 F150 SYNC V3.0

Iphone 3G V3.1

All I had the same problem of music pauses/skips and read all the posts here about fixes but found the following solution w/out pulling fuses or other changes.  Still hope for a better solution from the Ford SYNC engineers/techs.

1st attempt - I plugged the phone into USB and allowed indexing (about 15 minutes first time and no delay now when I plug in for charging).  This seemed to fix the problem for a short time (1/2 day of in/out of the truck).  After skipping started again I tried removing all bluetooth connections on phone and truck, wi-fi on/off, reboot iphone, etc with no luck as skipping continued.  See next post for attempt #2.

2nd attempt - Found this by accident as I got annoyed by the skipping I turned off the radio before exting the truck.  Next day after starting the truck and then turning on the radio there were no skips.  I have run for 3 days now with turning off the radio before exiting and have not experienced any skips if I turn the radio on after starting the engine.  Plug into USB or off the USB does not affect this result.  Seems there may be a boot up issue with SYNC polling bluetooth when radio is on during vehicle start that causes this skipping issue since I am able to listen without skips if I turn on the radio after starting the truck.

Additional note: I have also had success with being on the phone before getting into the truck and having the call transfer to SYNC/car audio and then turn on radio to listen to iphone music with out skips.  So again I link this to "radio on" when truck is started causing the skipping of music from bluetooth.  When I forget to turn the radio off the skipping happens regardless of turning the radio on and off and will not reset to the non-skip mode until truck is started again with the radio off.

Anyone else care to verify if this corrects their issues?  It is a hassle to turn off the radio each time but I enjoy having the bluetooth function work so will put up with it for now.

I am struggling through the IPOD vs. Sync issue as all of you are.  I am trying removing the data from my IPOD and then resyncing.  I also want to pull the fuse, but for the life of me I can not find what fuse in my F250 controls the SYNC system.  Does anyone else have a F250 that can help me out?  Or perhaps it is labeled as something other than radio or SYNC?  Any help is appreciated.

Looks like Apple just released the 3.1.2 update for iPhones and iPod Touches.

It apparently fixes the first 2 problems in my problem list (not waking from sleep, and losing connection to AT&T).  I am not going to update until it's confirmed to fix the Sync issues too, though (and I'm at work so I wouldn't be able to update for a couple hours anyway).

So, can someone please upgrade and post whether the indexing issues are corrected with this version?  Thanks!

From what I can tell so far, the problems still exist.. Now, I've only run short trips, 10 minutes or so, but from what I can tell, its still doing a continuous never ending indexing… Really starting to get annoying considering 3.0 has been out for how long now and still no fix from either party? I mean I bought the mariner with sync to be able to use it 3 months ago, and have only been able to for less than a month.. not worth the $1,200 extra it cost. My iTrip worked better… They keep saying, we're aware of the problem. But how about a little more detail, as in, when this will actually be fixed. It really can't be that hard to fix a metadata file calculation.. There's also no need for SYNC to completely index every time a single song is added. It should be a quick update to the file, not an entire recalculation… It's honestly getting annoying at this point that I have to unplug, navigate, to song, start playing it, pause it, replug, and switch back to usb just to hear the song from an artist… If SYNC was free on the vehicle, it'd be one thing, be we paid a grand for it, it really should be working better than this...

Here is my update:

I tried removing the fuse to sync, I had it out for about 15 minutes.  I cleared all content from my IPOD and then reloaded the information.  I also performed a master reset on sync.  After all of that there was no change, I still had the endless indexing issue, so no change.

I am in the process of downloading the update from Apple now and will report back if it fixes any of my issues.
