I just bought by first iPhone (3G) and I'm sure it is running the 3.1 OS. I too am having the endless indexing problem. I have had it indexing for well over 30 minutes (1070 songs) and it never finishes. So the media player part is not working at all with the iPhone. I was hoping to not have to carry my iPod with me anymore with the new iPhone, but I guess I will until this gets resolved. You would think it would be resolved soon since the iPhone HAS to be one of, if not THE most popular cell phone out there. I did have success syncing up my contacts for the sync phone feature and that seems to be working well. Now, if I could only listen to my music on there! :(

iphone 3G 3.1 works perfectly as far as Bluetooth phone operation.  Most complaints are coming from Bluetooth streaming media.  The songs sound like they're skipping about every 45 seconds (probably the bluetooth disconnecting and reconnecting quickly).  However, I have had NO problems with phone operation or uploading the phone book.

For playing music i've given up and gone to the USB cable - which is nice because it charges while you use it, and you can voice control the media (vs having to go to the next track on your phone).  You also have to turn off  bluetooth's "auto play" function if you're going to use the USB cable for playing music, and bluetooth for the phone.

Dear Ford,

Please fix the bluetooth and iphone (3g in my case) "skipping" problem.  Not sure if its bluetooth disconnects or whatever, but turning off the "auto-update" for the phone book did not help as described.  Repairing the device only helps momentarily, then goes right back to the problem.  The USB cable is an ok work around, but I would like to be able to show off the SYNC without pulling my phone out of my pocket.

Prior to the OS 3.1 upgrade, BT worked fine for me for phone calls. Regular pauses made it useless for me for music playback though. Jon

I am only using my iPhone for phone calls with Sync.  Not sure why I'd upgrade from 3.01 to 3.1 if there is any chance of BT becoming worse.  Seems like some have it working, but others not.

Hi JoeFusion,

As I have mentioned in other threads, the skipping is an iPhone issue.  There is nothing that Sync can do about it.  I can not speak for Apple, but I am sure they are aware of it.

I have the exact same problem... thanks for your post. At least I am not alone in getting USB to work.

My iPhone also indexes for an incredibly long time, after upgrading to version 3.1. If anyone who is reading this before upgrading to 3.1 please don't upgrade if you have it working. Does the Sync team have an ETA for a fix for this? My car isn't even a month old and it's having technical issues already. How will we know when there is an update for Sync?

>> I may be replacing my Blackberry with an iPhone. How well does the BT connection work using the iPhone? My Blackberry works quite well...will I be sorry I switched? I am not interested in streaming music, just operating the phone through Sync. >> My iPhone (2G) with 3.1 is fine for Bluetooth telephone calls via SYNC. I, too, use it only for telephone [I have maybe 15 songs on the iPhone].
