I'm using a 16GB USB flash drive for music. The biggest gripe right now for me is that Sync keeps shuffling my music. I turn off shuffle using voice commands and even the onscreen menu, and it turns off. Next time I get in the car it's back to shuffling. It's maddening. Also, the next time I start the car it doesn't play back where it left off. It defaults to a Burt Bacharach album! Every time! Voice recognition is a whole issue in itself. No matter how clearly I speak, Glados picks something from way out in left field. It's way too distracting to try to scroll through menus while driving, that's why I wanted Sync.

iPod and mp3 discs have the same issues. It appears the "random" shuffle even when you mean to have it on is not random. It always choses the same songs in the same order. This is especially the case for MP3 disc, and it looks like flash drives alike. At least with an ipod I can have it shuffle again and it will choose a new path, but once I turn the car off and back on, there's that same d$#@ song. Perhaps the sync programmers can address this? Or perhaps they're not using their own product, as it is very annoying to the point I don't use the features. Josh

I still like the Sync for phone calls, but it's a shame the music aspect is so worthless to me. I have a 15-hour drive tomorrow. The whole reason I bought the car here instead of after I get there is because of Sync. So now I'll be putting an extra thousand miles on my Fiesta and still don't have the benefits of Sync.

Must be an issue with your USB drive.  I'm using a Kingston Data Traveler 8GB and have none of the issue you describe.  I also have a HP 8GB and it works fine as well.  Shuffle ON/OFF works perfectly whether I use voice or the menu and it always remembers where it left off (both the shuffle setting and the specific point in a song).

Maybe you want to try a Master Reset and start over with indexing the flash drive.

2010 Milan, Sync 3.1, non-nav
