Hello, I just bought a Ford Flex 2011 Limited. I have an iPhone, but it's not working correctly right now with the latest update. I've read people have been using those USB Flash drives to put their music on. Is there anyone with experience with this who has a recommendation on the method I should use for putting my music on the USB drive? I use iTunes on my Mac. iTunes has organized my MP3s and ACCs into folders and subfolders. Do I just drag those in the Finder to the USB drive, or do I need to put all the files at the root level on the USB drive? Thank you so much for your time! Scot

From my experience recently, it seems that as long as the files are either in the main directory or stored within a folder on the drive you are ok.  But songs that are in a folder within another don't seem to be recognized.

I tried dumping most of my song library (small compared to many) onto an 8GB Cruizer, and some were set up as a band named folder that had album-named folders that contained the actual mp3's.  I was never able to get those to play.

The easiest way was just to dump the individual files onto the Cruizer and plug it in from there - no chance of them being "hidden" from the indexing.

I have my MP3s and M4As stored in a directory tree structure and it works fine.  One example is below:

/Crosby, Stills & Nash/Daylight Again/Crosby, Stills & Nash - Daylight Again - 03 - Southern Cross.m4a

I have mp3s as much as 5 folders deep and they are recognized perfect.

MP3 Music

   Various Artists

         Time Life Music

               Sounds of the 70s

                     Disc 1 - 1970

                             Some song from the 70s.mp3

                     Disc 2 - 1970

Works like a champ.

What is the advantage of putting all these songs in various folders, some 5 deep?  Or did you just drag and drop  the folders they were already in?
All my mp3 and m4a tunes are at the root directory.

Drag and drop from my media server.

Also makes it easier to work with MP3Tag and other audio software.

It just provides better organization of my music on my NAS which is used in combination with my Media Server.  When you have over 800 albums and 15,000 songs, you need a little organizaiton.  Like USMA64 said.

I just went out and bought a 4GB flash drive, plugged it into my Vista PC at home and went to media player.  I then sync-ed my music library to the flash drive.  It loaded all my music in the same format.  I plugged it into the USB drive of my Taurus and it worked just fine.

I'm running into an issue with some of my songs.  I have a few mp3's that are loaded on both my fiance's and my USB drives we have in our Milans that SYNC is not indexing.

I've gone through and verified that the songs are not protected content, and that they have all the song tags on them.  But even after wiping and reformatting the USB drive SYNC is not finding the songs even after a "Play All".  Anyone have an idea on what else I can try?
