So, a few weeks back the check engine light comes on in my wife's 2009 Ford Escape.  I ask her to take it into the dealer to get it fixed and while she is there have them update the Sync to do Vehicle health report and 911.
Check Engine light was fixed no problem.

Sync update failed.  We got a truncated report from the dealer saying that there was an issue and that the update was failing part way through.  Ford said they were aware of it and they were working on a solution.
Fair enough....

However, I have no clue when this will be fixed.   The dealer doesn't know, and I can't find any info on this site about this issue.
So, Ford, what's the deal?  Is someone going to let us know when this issue is fixed, or do I have to just keep sending the Escape in to the dealer until it works?

Sure would be nice if someone would let the customer know what's going on.

I had the same problem with my dealer and after a week they got it fixed. I went in and got the update. I turned on the 911 Assist turned on but, I can't get a Vehicle Report to be sent to me. I just asked for some help on this site, hope I get it and everyone else can read it.

mmckenna, there have been many reports of dealer issues downloading software upgrades from the main Ford server.  My Service Advisor told me that there are apparently many security features and firewalls, and if the techs at the dealership are not familiar with them, the downloads do not go well.

BlueIce, did you set up your VHR information on this site, and set up your phone number?  You need to do that in order to get the reports here.

I am gonna have to defend Ford on this.  Plenty of people have gotten the update with no problems at all, you are experiencing a problem with the dealer (imagine that) not Ford itself.  If you have another local Ford Dealer I would reccomend taking it there, we have 5 Ford Dealerships in the area and one I went to didn't even hardly know what SYNC was.

I spent three hours at my dealer today and they were unable to install the upgrade in my 2009 Focus.  This was a follow-up to an appointment a week ago where the same attempt failed.  It seemed both times that the dealer was frustrated by a lack of access to technical support.  It was my impression that the support came from somewhere other than the assistance they receive for mechanical problems.

I just read my VHR after many tries. The reason I wasn't getting a report sent to me was, silly me I had my own phone number wrong. Instead of 364-**** I had 346-****. After the correction Sync was able to sent me a report. It is worth a check of your account information.
