Hi all!

Quick question about the Sync my phone application.

I've created 2 phone books in the application (one for my wife and one for me) because we have 2 phones that do not support phone book downloading...

Then I prepared the USB key with the app install and now I am supposed to be ready to install right?

QUESTION: after i've connected my phone and inserted the USB key. When I choose INSTALL APPPLICATION, will it ask me which phone book to install? One is named Dany and the other Something else...Do I need to repeat the USB preparation for each phone book install?

My wife currently has the truck out for a spin, but I wanted to be advised before I do this!

Thanks!

Hi Dany,

The installed phonebook is associated with the currently connected phone.  So if you have your phone connected and run the install you will install to your phonebook.  If you then connect to your wife's phone and run the other install it will install to her phonebook.  For more information, this is described in the help in the SyncMyPhone desktop app.

Hi Mike

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately it didn't work at all.

I tried to install the phone book but my Blackberry just resets (tried it 3 times) instead of disconnecting and reconnecting,

So what happens is the install starts, the BB resets and by the time my phone is back, the install fails.

I'm really unhappy with the whole thing and I called my IT dept to have them remove IT policies for 5 minutes while I push my phone book at least once. I don't care about work numbers all that much but my personnal contacts need to be in sync. Waiting on IT to see what they'll say.

Ok, sorry to hear that.  Is Phonebook Auto-Download turned off on Sync?

Yes. I updated my SYNC version to latest yesterday and tried again (with phonebook auto-download off) and the BB is reacting very strongly to the disconnect request by SYNC and shuts down instead of disconnecting.

Tried with a Motorola ming (a1200), because it doesn't support phone book download either, and it worked like a charm. The connection with Sync reset 3 times and it installed succesfully. I am thinking that I should use my wife's phone instead of my corporate blackberry! The limits of technology!

QUOTE"Which Blackberry model is it? And what is the firmware version? "

BlackBerry 8330 V4.5.0.127 Platform 3.4.0.20 Bluetooth version 1.1

My Sync software is updated to 2.1.

IT says they can't (won't) give me 5 minutes with It policies removed (or set to default) so I have to find abother way to install my phonebook !

HELP! Why is my phone resetting (shutting down) instead of disconnecting from SYNC bluetooth??

I hate my phone... I have 4 others I could use if only my work phone had a sim card...

Thanks for your help

Wait! It actually worked this time! whoohoo!

so:

-Car's sync version 2.1

-Blackberry 8330 Corporate IT policies with PhoneBook transfer DISABLED

I created a phonebook in Sync my phone and prepared a USB key (which was freshly formatted and had nothing else on it) in the application

I then rebooted my blackberry and left the Network connection to OFF but Bluetooth ON (you can adjust auto network reconnect OFF after reboot)

Started the car, inserted the USB key and turned on the radio

Made sure my phone connected to SYNC via Bluetooth

Waited for the car to tell me the key had no media on it, and started the application install

While the application installed I played non-stop with the ball tracker to occupy my phone and in about 5 seconds it had reconnected 3-4 times to SYNC and did NOT reboot!

SYNC said the install was a success and I confirmed that the phonebook  I created in SYNC MY PHONE is now present on the car's memory!

Hope this helps someone else, as I have NO CLUE what fixed my issue, hence the complete detailed explanation :)
