I am having trouble getting a good phone book into my Sync system (2010 Ford Fusion).  I have a Sprint Motorola RAZR VE20 phone.  If I use the blue tooth phone book download, every contact ends up having an extra, bad junk phone number (looks like an index/file number that the razr might be using but somehow gets converted to a nonsense phone number).

So I deleted the phone book, turned off the auto sync, and then attempted to load the phone book via the USB port in my center console by using the Windows Sync My Phone app.  But this did not work because the Sync system comes up with an error stating that it cannot find the installation files from the USB.  I have tried a 64MB Dell memory stick and a 512MB Cruzer stick; both failed.  In both cases, the only items on the stick drive were the files installed by the Sync My Phone app.

If anyone has any advice on either how to get the bluetooth download to work correctly or the USB to install correctly, I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks!

Hi FusionMidTN, I moved your post to an existing thread. Here are the SYNCMyPhone requirements for installing a phonebook via the USB drive:

1. The phone that you want to associate with the phonebook must have been previously paired with SYNC
2. When you install the phonebook, the phone must be present with you in the vehicle

Phonebook installation will take approximately 2 to 3 minutes. To install a phonebook, your phone must be paired with SYNC, connected, and physically present. SYNCMyPhone links the phonebook to the currently connected phone, so that it is visible only when that particular phone is used with SYNC.  During installation, the radio will display "Installing Application", and your phone will disconnect and reconnect from SYNC multiple times. This is normal behavior.  Please be aware that your phone may ask you to accept a connection from SYNC multiple times during the installation process.  Once the phonebook is installed, there will be an "Installation Complete" message.  After you hear this message, you can use your phonebook with SYNC through normal voice commands.

Hope this helps, Mike

I just uploaded a phonebook via the MySync phonebook app. The install went ok. When I viewed the phonebook I found it was incomplete. I was missing about 60% of the contacts I made up in the MySync app. I master reset and installed several times with the same result. Just for kicks I called a missing contact via the media buttons voice command and it worked. I called several other missing contacts and they all worked. I can't see them all in the phonebook but I can call them all. This was on Sync 3.0 and 3.1. Anyone know what's up?

Thanks

@frenchy

Do you have a factory Navigation system with your vehicle, or a radio?   Also, how many contacts do you have in your phonebook?

Question -- for the "there" vs. "missing" contacts... is it based on the first letter of the contact name?

I'm having a problem (see other post/thread), where only phonebook entries that start with "A" appear under ABC, only "D" show up under "DEF", etc.  So I don't get any entries that start with B, C, E, F, etc.

I have an '09 ford dually with Sync, which I have only owned for about 2 months.  At first, sync would automatically pair with my LG Chocolate (verizon service) with no problem.   Over a couple of weeks, it finally simply stopped doing any automatic pairing and I had to manually pair the phone each and every time.
In the meantime, I changed to ATT and bought a Nokia E71x, which the geek squad rated as Sync Standard.   The first time I paired the phone to the Sync, it worked fine, and automatically connected the next day or 2.  Now, again, it won't automatically pair and has to be manually paired every time.
I have taken the system to Ford, but they tell me that Sync is working fine and it must be a problem with the phone.   Thinking it might be a problem with this EXACT phone, I returned it and got another E71x.  It is exactly the same problem.  It has to be manually paired.   Ford continues to tell me that it is not a problem with Sync.   I just had a chat with the Sync chat "help" person (what a joke) and they say it is a problem with Sync and recommend that I contact a dealer..geeeezzz.     ford says sync, sync says ford and me stuck in the middle with a screwed up system.
   Any suggestions?

I have a 2010 Focus. I can't get my verizon phone book to sync to my car. (the phone says in the menu bluetooth) but obliviously it is not compatible with the car . I understand there is a link you can go to , to download onto to a flash drive a method to download my phonebook. Does someone know this link ? or can tell me how to get my phonebook download to my car. ...... The dealer was able to (using my phone) get my phone to voice command dial phone numbers I tell it too, but I have to remember everyones phone number and tell the car to dial 410 000 1212 etc... . So I am half happy . I can talk to the people I want too, but I would rather be able to say "Phone Andy" and it do it , so I don't have to remember the number. Can someone help me ?

Thanks!!!!

Hi bluebuck,

The link to the SYNC My Phone application can be found in the SYNC Announcements category, but I will also include it here in this thread:
