I updated my iPhone to 3.0 last night and SYNC still works great for phone calls.  The phonebook download actually works correctly now and the contacts are not reversed (Last then First name) like they did in the past.  Now I can turn auto phonebook download back on.  Bluetooth streaming now works as well.  Nice that I can now stream Pandora or even the audio from a movie on my iPhone.  Text messaging is still unsupported however.  Was hoping that might make it through, but not yet.  No biggie though.  I've read from others that USB connected iPhone doesn't work, but haven't tried that.  Honestly I've always just used a thumb drive for all my music anyhow.  Ring tones are still not transferred over.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the 3.0 software and for how I use SYNC for making and taking calls, it works great.

Thank you for the update.  I am about to update my 3G iPhone to 3.0 and test with Sync.

With the old software, I have lots of problems with Sync not detecting the iPod, telling me that no media device is not found.  I am hoping this becomes more stable

I also updated my iphone to 3.0 and love it.  I was really excited about the bluetooth audio for a long time.  It works pretty well.  I does sort of "cut-out" for about a half second every now and then.  On the way to work today it cut out like every 30 seconds.  You or anyone else have this problem?

Brian

I think now that the iPhone bluetooth version has been updated, the next version of Sync should improve iPhone & Microsoft Sync communication.

The whole reason the iPhone was lacking support, was due to the extremely outdated Bluetooth version in which the iPhone had.

Maybe now, that the iPhone bluetooth version is updated, the next version of SYNC will include text message support, as well as improved voice quality (which is still lacking when paried with the iPhone - my Blackberry sounds twice as good when paired, versus my iPhone).

That's great news. I was also able to stream music over BT this morning. I wasn't however able to get playlists, etc using BT like I can when I connect with a USB cable. Is that a limitation of BT streaming or me just not knowing how to find this info?

Brian,

I too updated to Iphone 3.0 and tried the bluetooth streaming this morning.  I was surprised that it worked immediately and no extra setup.  Mine however skips a little here and there like yours.  Not a lot but can be somewhat annoying.  But its worth it to have so much to access from the Iphone including Pandora and other radio apps.

Hey everyone! I also updated to 3.0 yesterday evening and am enjoying the benefits!! The names in my contacts are now being correctly displayed, but for some reason I am having trouble getting the BT audio to stream. I deleted my BT device (Iphone) and then rejoined my BT to sync and still nothing when I give the command for BT audio. Actually, I get the prompt that says there is no BT device connected, but my phone is connected and I can make and accept calls. I have the 1st gen. Iphone but i don't think that should have anything to do with it. Am I doing something wrong? It seems pretty straight forward, but I can't seem to get the BT audio to stream. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks everyone!!

my iphone 3G is playing streaming a2dp through the stereo but the incessant clicking every 10-20 seconds drives me nuts, its unusable to me, is there a sync version that I can upgrade to that will get rid of the clicking, I think I have sync v1.1, everything else works great

As far as I know, only the 3G iPhone gets A2DP support (sorry 1st gen owners).  I too, have noticed the "skipping" issue when streaming audio via bluetooth to SYNC, I'm hoping that it's an iPhone issue rather than a SYNC problem.  We can help notify Apple of the problem by submitting a bug report at bugreport.apple.com.

I have also discovered another grievance.  When I turn on the car it automatically starts streaming music from my iPhone, seemingly at random.  I'd really like to initiate the music experience myself, you know, maybe choose what song/podcast I want to listen to rather than having Katy Perry blare at me suddenly while I'm trying to impress my date...  I changed the AUTOPLAY settings in SYNC, but that didn't seem to do anything. Any ideas?

My iPhone and Sync are not getting along well.  At first Bluetooth audio was working well, but last niight I got the error message "no bluetooth audio devices found".  So I just connected it to USB.  About 1/2 hour into the ride the music volume dropped.  I took me a while to figure out what happened, but it switched from usb to blutooth by itself.

Another annoying trait is that Sync often reindexes the music from my iPhone, even though nothing has changed.  So voice commands won't work for 5 - 15 minutes.  This doesn't happen eveny time, but often enough to be really annoying.
